BSP / Buy Sell Pressure / Indicator of Buy Sell Pressure / SP / BP
The names of OB metrics have been updated to be more intuitive.
The ratio of buy orders to sell orders on spot exchanges.
Buy Sell Pressure on Exchanges: This metric shows values from 0 to 1, where 0.5 is a neutral value. Values above 0.5 indicate increased selling pressure, while values below 0.5 indicate increased buying pressure. At first glance, this metric resembles the RSI indicator in shape and behavior, but it is more precise as it does not analyze the price of a specific coin like BTC, but rather real-time data from exchanges.
Advantages: |
Insight into market sentiment in real-time: Analyzing buy and sell pressure provides a unique insight into current market sentiments, allowing investors to make decisions based on current data relating to buy and sell orders, rather than just price history.
Helps identify possible market turning points, best times to sell when the metric is extremely high, and to buy when the metric is extremely low.
Risks / Disadvantages: |
Market impact from manipulation: A large entity may attempt to manipulate market perception by placing large but not necessarily executed buy or sell orders. This can lead to a faulty interpretation of buy and sell pressure by other market participants.
Limited effectiveness in unstable market conditions: During extreme market conditions, such as events related to news or significant mood swings, buy and sell pressure may not be a fully reliable indicator. In such circumstances, market movements may be more dominated by emotions than by rational decisions based on order analysis.
